Senator Al Lawson encouraged by progress
in Health Care Reform

Disappointed in pro-insurance allies Lieberman, Boyd

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Senator Al Lawson issued the following statement on Health Care Reform:

“While I am pleased with President Obama’s progress on health care reform, I am deeply disappointed that conservative Democrats like Joe Lieberman and Allen Boyd have been able to move this historic legislation away from our core goals of providing affordable, quality health care coverage to all Americans. From the very beginning, I have been a strong supporter of a robust public option in any health care reform legislation. The public option guarantees coverage to all Americans and most importantly keeps the insurance companies honest. President Obama has done more on health care reform than any president has in 100 years. While I applaud President Obama for his historic accomplishments, I am deeply saddened that conservative Democrats like Joe Lieberman and Allen Boyd continue to block real Health Care Reform. When elected to Congress, I will stand with the American people and against the special interests.”
