“Sarah Palin Republicans” praise Boyd’s opposition to health care

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Following reports by the Tallahassee Democrat that Allen Boyd will vote against the health care reform bill in Congress, card-carrying members of the “Sarah Palin wing” of the Republican Party quickly voiced their support for Boyd.  Members of the group Tallahassee Tea Party even claimed on their Facebook page that they were responsible for changing Allen Boyd’s position on health care reform.

“It is sad that these radical tea-baggers can so easily manipulate Allen Boyd into opposing the real health care reform that is so needed in his district,” said Josh Robinson, Al Lawson’s campaign manager.  “Allen Boyd’s position may be acceptable in Wasilla, Alaska, but it’s out of touch with the needs of North Florida.”

On the Tallahassee Tea Party’s Facebook page, the group praises Allen Boyd, calling his vote a “wise decision,” and encourages its members to call his office and “THANK him for listening” and opposing health care reform.  One member even claims, “Glad ole Allen decided to listen to us.”  (Source)

And a separate announcement by the group’s leader maintains that Boyd’s opposition may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for health care reform. Francisco Gonzalez, founder of the Tallahassee Tea Party and administrator of the group’s Facebook page, wrote today in an email to members, “Folks, this could make the difference. As a Blue Dog Democrat, Boyd represents a pivotal vote in Congress. And, with hours left to go, this may give the green light to other Blue Dog Democrats as well.”

“Allen Boyd has shown his true colors,” said Senator Al Lawson.  “By siding with Washington special interests and right-wing extremists, Allen Boyd turned his back on the 126,000 people in his district that lack health care coverage.”
